Introduction to Neotropical Birds

Few experiences are as challenging and rewarding as spotting colorful birds in the rainforest. Enthusiasts from around the world flock to the tropics to catch a glimpse of the unique bird species found nowhere else. With over 90 families and nearly 3,800 species of neotropical birds, ranging from hummingbirds to guans and falcons, the diversity is astonishing.

Adding to this richness are the neotropical migrants that spend their winters in these tropical regions, offering endless birding opportunities. However, the tropics face constant change, from weather-related pressures to deforestation, pushing many bird species to the brink of survival. Interestingly, many bird species that now inhabit areas as far north as Canada trace their origins to these neotropical zones. Join us as we delve deeper into the fascinating world of neotropical birds.
